Leadership Experience
Is this right for you?
This internship is for you if…

You check at least one of these boxes:

You're an undergraduate, graduate student, or recent graduate who wants documented mentorship and leadership experience for grad school or job applications.
You're interested in research, academia, or education — and want to build real mentoring experience with a student working on a genuine 4,000+ word research project.
You want a verifiable leadership credential that requires minimal time — just 2–3 hours per week, fully remote, on a schedule that fits around your studies or job.
You want to give back — helping a high school student through one of the most challenging academic projects they'll ever take on — while building skills that help you too.

"Teaching someone else to research is one of the fastest ways to deepen your own skills. And a Certificate of Completion from Gifted Gabber is a credential that stands out on any graduate school or job application."

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Who can apply to be a Research Intern?
Undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates who have some experience with academic research or writing. You don't need to be an expert — you need to be further along than a high school student and willing to give structured, honest feedback.
What subject areas are available?
Interns are matched to students across Gifted Gabber's research programs — including Neuroscience, Biomedical, Nanoscience, Finance & Economics, Political Science, AI & Mathematics, Cybersecurity, and more. We match based on your academic background and the student's research area.
Is this a paid internship?
This is an unpaid internship focused on professional development, skill-building, and credential-earning. The Certificate of Completion, documented mentorship experience, and leadership credential are the core value — particularly for those applying to graduate school or academic positions.
How much time does it actually take?
Realistically 2–3 hours per week — a weekly check-in with your mentee (30–45 minutes) plus time to review and annotate drafts when they're submitted. Everything is remote and scheduled at mutual convenience.
How does this help a grad school or job application?
Documented mentorship experience — guiding a student through a 4,000+ word research project — is rare for undergrads and recent grads. The Certificate of Completion is a verifiable credential, and the role demonstrates communication, leadership, and academic commitment in a concrete, specific way.
What happens after I apply?
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Selected candidates will be contacted by Coach Lorie for a brief introduction before being matched with a mentee for the next available cohort.
